Snow day!

We finally got some snow here in NY! My children, my husband, and myself love snow! We’re snow people. I think one of the things that really brings my husband and myself together is snow. I love how quiet it gets when it snows. You can almost hear a pin drop outside! I love the way the snow looks on the trees, I love how it looks it on the ground. It’s just so beautiful, and Christmas just isn’t the same without snow.

My children love playing in the snow. They love making snowmen, snow angels, snow forts, having snow ball fights. And I love the joy snow brings my children.

Has it snowed where you live yet? Let me know in the comments! I would love to know the weather where you’re at!

And if you haven’t yet, check out my giveaway post below! Thanks to everyone who has entered so far. I’ll be picking a winner soon!

Blessings to all. ❤️

Christmas Traditions – Giveaway

UPDATE – Giveaway closed. Sarah Anne is the randomly selected winner! Congratulations, Sarah!

There’s nothing I don’t love about Christmas! I look forward to it all year. The food, the tree, the songs, the movies, the cartoons, the lights – I love the lights! There are so many great traditions enjoyed this time of year.

My favorite tradition is one that was started when I was a child. My mother has always loved Hallmark. She collects the ornaments and enjoys seeing all the new ornaments released each year. So, ever since I was little, my father has bought my mother a new ornament. Her Christmas tree is filled with Hallmark every year! She makes it so beautiful. As I grew up, I decided to carry on the tradition. Now each year, I buy my mother a new Hallmark ornament.

And today I’m giving a Hallmark ornament and a beautiful wall sign away to one of my readers!

A trip to Vermont

Isn’t it nice to get away? Just pack a bag and go. That’s what my husband and I (and baby Ben) did this past weekend. We didn’t have much planned, aside from the hotel, which I got with a gift card from Travelzoo.com (thanks travelzoo!) But we had such a wonderful time. It was nice to be carefree, to not have to make plans over plans. And to be honest, my husband and I needed that time together.

Things get busy with three kids. The marriage gets put aside for the kids, for work, for cooking & cleaning. By the end of the day, I’m just too tired to even watch a movie with my husband. He understands though, and I’m thankful for that. But it still sucks to not have much time with him. I miss him. He’s a wonderful man and a great companion. And not to mention, pretty good looking! I’m blessed to have him as my husband.

So this last weekend was our time! Time to just unwind and enjoy each other. We had dinner at a great little restaurant. It was only about two hours from home, but the drive was amazing. The fall foliage was remarkable. It was a much needed adventure!

From our family to yours; Happy Fall! 🍁

3am Rants

Good morning.

I’ve been awake since 2am. I’m not a night person. I’m a mom. A mom to three wonderful little angles, who apparently missed the memo that night time is for sleep. My oldest kicked things off this morning. He needed to use the rest room, which he just had to wake me up to tell me. Then the baby woke up to nurse. Fine. I’m up anyway. Then the middle darling woke up screaming, as she’s been doing that every night for a week now. ‘Okay, Elizabeth, I’m sorry but mama can’t help you. Baby is nursing.’

And here we are, at 3:39 am. Baby is still up, playing in his crib. Elizabeth is still yelling, alone in her room. ‘Mama still hasn’t had a free moment to help you Liz.’ I feel bad, ya know. She wants to see me. I should be happy my kids always call out for me when they wake up in the morning. They love me, they want to see me. But I’m tired. My husband is sound asleep. I’m jealous. I want to sleep too. But I don’t. I never do. I wake up every night to help the kids go back to sleep, but who helps me?

Being a mother is a thankless job. It’s tedious, I work long hours with no break. I’m a maid, a cook, a pastry chef, a teacher, a sleep coach, a nanny. It’s exhausting and there just isn’t enough coffee in the world to make this mama not tired. Don’t get me wrong though, my kids do say thank you. I know they appreciate me, but still.

Mama needs a break.
